Kult of Athena will be closing until further notice as we comply with the mandatory Shelter in Place order issued by the Illinois Governor. We will not be taking new orders until we reopen. We do not know precisely when we will be allowed to reopen but we hope it is soon. We were trying to continue operating with a reduced staff, but that has proven not to be possible.
**Customers with existing orders: All existing orders will be filled, and we hope to have all in stock orders shipped by the end of the week or early next.
We will be checking emails during this time, so if you need to get hold of us please email orders@kultofathena.com. We hope everyone is staying as safe as they can out there and we very much hope to be open again soon.

1055 High Carbon Steel
1 lb 9.4 oz

This Spontoon Hawk with its curved and pick-like axehead blade is a purpose-designed tool of war and self defense with little allowance for camp and utility use. The forward sloping dagger-like head will deeply puncture a target in a swift strike; the faux pipe bowl of solid steel on its reverse functions as a solid hammer for concussive blows.

The axehead is of drop-forged 1055 high carbon steel which is mounted to a haft of robust American Hickory. The dagger-like blade of the axehead is unsharpened with a wide and blunt edge which we can sharpen in-house for an additional fee. If additional sharpening is chosen we will sharpen both sides of the axehead by default unless specified otherwise in the ‘’special instructions’’ box on the order checkout page.

The axehead features a recessed screw in one side of the socket which can be used to re-seat the axe when it loosens from use. By using an allen key of the right size the screw can be inserted further into the haft to tighten the fitting of the axehead to the haft. Care must be taken not to over-turn the screw however, as pushing it entirely into the wood and past the axehead socket renders this feature entirely useless. For best results the axehead should be moved as high up on the haft as it can go to find a spot with a good and tight fit before securing the axehead with the recessed screw.
